Acoustic anti-vibration components for ships and boats
Vulkan Industries, experts in drivetrain, vibration and acoustics for all types of ships and boats will be exhibiting at Seawork 2018 for the first time.
Well known in the UK, this is a new approach for Vulkan as it looks to expand its presence in the international market as a leading manufacturer and supplier of flexible couplings, shafts and anti-vibration products for the marine industry.
As part of this new approach, the new Managing Director Shanul Haque has reorganised the external sales force with three people instead of one.
On the Vulkan stand you will find a product range dedicated to the removal of all types of drive-generated noise and vibration. The range of marine industry products include the Propflex propeller shaft couplings, various flexible mountings for engines and gearboxes, plus an interactive demonstration of how the introduction of vibration-damping products makes for quieter, smoother, vessel operations.
Vulkan’s Propflex is a double-cardanic displacement coupling with thrust mounts designed to insulate structure-borne noise and compensate for high radial, axial and angular transmission misalignment. It is available in three different types with a range of torques from 2.8kNm to 53.20kNm and of a modular construction, can be installed to various lengths.
A must-see for vessel operators, engineers, naval architects and designers will be a Vulkan demonstration that highlights how the integration of its acoustic products into the drivetrain all combine to reduce vibration and noise caused by a misaligned drive.
Since 2008, Vulkan has been an official agent for Python Drives and will be showing an example of this manufacturers products. Their flexible drives will transmit 10HP to 1,000HP and handle propeller thrust loads up to 60kN.
