Busy Swedish yard plans expansion

This includes a carousel lathe with a table capacity of up to 10 tons, a working width 1,700 mm and working height 1,500 mm. A new steel roller in the steel shop has a capacity for rolling steel plate to a thickness of 20 mm, a width 3,000 mm and 3,700 mm diameter. At a thickness of 35 mm and a width of 1,000 mm the diameter is 1,000 mm. The steel cutting station has been increased in capacity for the burning of steel plates up to 12m in length and a width of 2,500 mm.

The Öresundsvarvet has also expanded its capacity to supply electricity to ships at 2000A, 380-440V and 50-60Hz.

Works carried out last month at the Öresundsvarvet were for the Viking Line’s Cinderella, comprising refurbishment of its interior as well as the annual refit and painting work. Major steel repair work was carried out on the M/V Trenden during the vessel´s stay.

In May the yard carried out a main engine replacement on a ro-ro vessel. Major steel renewal work was carried out in tanks and to the double bottom of another vessel. Reconstruction of the icebreaker Oden’s multibeam system was carried out in April as the vessel stayed in dry dock for propeller work and painting as part of its yearly overhaul.

The tanker Bro Deliver was in dry dock for painting and its normal overhaul. Gangways on deck were renewed and propeller works were also carried out.

Other works carried our recently saw M/V Najaden visit the Öresundsvarvet for major steel renewal work and painting works, including painting in the ballast tanks. The normal yearly refit was going on in parallel with steel and painting works. I/B Balder and Vidar Viking have visited the Öresundsvarvet for assembly of new winches. The winch assembly work included fabrication and assembly of new foundations on both the vessels. The Öresundsvarvet also prefabricated and assembled a moon pool.

Öresundsvarvet’s dry dock is almost full booked until the middle of October.
