CEDA elects Laboyrie as new President
Polite Laboyrie of Witteveen and Bos in the Netherlands has been elected as the next Central Dredging Association CEDA President.
Mr Laboyrie will succeed the current President, Anders Jensen of DHI, Denmark, in November 2015.
Mr Laboyrie will be known to many CEDA members as the current Chair of the CEDA Environment Commission and he will continue to fulfil this role. He will also act as CEDA President Elect until he takes up the full presidential role next November. In the meantime, the Commission will be looking for a new Chair to start in November 2015.
Meanwhile, the new Educational Activities Commission of CEDA had their first meeting recently at which the chairman, Professor Cees van Rhee of the Delft University of Technology, discussed what role CEDA should and could play in increasing the pool of well-trained dredging specialists across its region (Europe, Africa, Middle East) and how to develop closer links with universities, including facilitation of master and PhD research and dissemination of results.
In addition to knowledge dissemination, CEDA also seeks to strengthen its role in facilitating knowledge exchange amongst its members.
Members of the Commission are Michael Costaras of HR Wallingford in the UK, Anna Csiti and Arjan de Heer of Netherlands based CEDA, Anders Jensen of Denmark’s DHI , Johan Pennekamp of Deltares in the Netherlands, and Dingeman van Woerden of Royal IHC, also of the Netherlands.
