Cost effective prototyping
For OEMs who want to turn a CAD drawing into a cost-effective prototype, Polycast Ltd will be showing the latest options available.
Formerly MS Gibb Marine and based near the UK’s major port of Southampton, Polycast specialises in the prototyping and manufacture of a wide range of metal components across several industries, including maritime and oil and gas.
“We are able to provide a palette of manufacturing options to give the client the best value for money, both in the prototyping process and then in volume manufacture,” explained Commercial Director Stephen Cooke. “We manufacture both here in the UK and in India, and are able to offer several different processes, from investment, sand and die casting through to forging and machining. Although the usual route for a prototype is to take it to a CNC machine, we can often offer more competitive solutions as the processes can be simplified. All the prototyping is done in the UK, but for subsequent production runs our facilities in India offer high quality components in all types of metal at greatly reduced cost.”
