Danish headquartered renewables giant Dong Energy has announced that wind industry service provider CWind, will provide corrosion protection, latchway inspections and snagging to Dong’s Borkum Riffgrund 1 wind farm (offshore Germany) in addition to the temporary power services it supplied earlier this year.

CWind initially commenced work on site back in March this year, providing temporary power to the project. The new work packages were devised in response to current requirements of Dong Energy. As part of this service CWind is repairing the paint work of the foundation between splash zone and transition piece using rope access technicians. The campaign includes snagging, inspections and Latchways replacement and is being undertaken in readiness for handover to the Operations and Maintenance team.

Stefan Marschner, CWind Sales Manager Germany, commented on the additional services to be provided: “We’re delighted to continue to support Dong Energy in this intensive period of construction completion. CWind benefits from several years of experience in offshore wind farm inspections and corrosion protection in the UK and we are pleased to be able to use this experience to support our clients’ projects in Germany.”
