Environment groups call on IMO to reject biofuels

A potential obstacle to the adoption of biofuels by the shipping industry in the name of decarbonisation has been presented by conservation groups, who have called on the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) to reject them.

The intervention by a coalition of environmental organisations came as delegates meet in London for negotiations at the IMO, where member states are working to define how international shipping will meet its net-zero targets.
