Strategic newbuilds to bolster the renewables market

Strategic Marine has announced a milestone contract with Mainprize Offshore to build six advanced Supa Swath vessels marking a strategic investment in vessel build capabilities for the offshore renewables industry.

The Supa Swath vessels are renowned for their stability, efficiency and sustainable design, making them ideal for offshore operations and maintenance (O&M) in the renewables sector.

“We are thrilled to sign these contracts with Strategic Marine,” said Bob Mainprize, managing director of Mainprize Offshore.

“This partnership aligns with our vision of advancing maritime technology and expanding our capabilities with a reliable shipbuilding partner. The Supa Swath vessels represent a significant investment in our fleet, offering superior performance and versatility for offshore renewables.”

Strong partnership

Strategic Marine’s CEO, Chan Eng Yew, emphasised the importance of this contract.

“This agreement underscores the strength of our partnership with Mainprize Offshore and our commitment to providing innovative maritime solutions. We are confident that the Supa Swath vessels will significantly enhance Mainprize’s fleet capabilities and support their success in the growing offshore renewables sector.”

The first of the six vessels is set for delivery in Q1 2026. There is also an option for an additional six vessels.

This expansion will bring Mainprize Offshore’s fleet to 17 vessels by the end of 2026, with potential growth to 21 by 2028.

It’s a move by the the operator to better position itself to support Europe’s rising demand for offshore operations and maintenance (O&M) in renewable energy.
