Kongsberg Maritime launches new application at Seawork

Kongsberg was one of many companies to launch a new solution or product at this year’s Seawork, in this case expanding its Jet Control System (JCS) to its S4-series stainless steel waterjets.

The company says this means improved manoeuvrability and easier installation for vessels up to 50 metres in length.

The S4 series waterjets can now be controlled by the JCS on larger vessels such as coastal patrol vessels, ferries and super yachts.

Speaking to Maritime Journal at Seawork, director Products – Waterjet systems Frederik Appel said the JCS simplified controls for the operator with a steering knob on the left and waterjet operation to the right.

“We took a step back, looking at what the crews needed and the feedback was they wanted to feel they were doing something, with lights and hands on,” Appel said.

“This was a natural development in our offering to customers, and those operating larger vessels will now be able to benefit from the enhanced displays and responsiveness.

“It’s simple to install, factory tested and highly standardised with limited options, which makes it easier to install.”
