Seawork exhibitors in electric collaboration

Two of Seawork’s exhibitors have collaborated to maximise NMEA data efficiency with a new X-band radar ’Pathfinder’ system.

Actisense and Raymarine have launched what they call a ground-breaking system  that they say is IMP compliant and will disrupt the commercial marine market.

Using Actisense’s PRO-MUX-2 as the baseline infrastructure for Pathfinder’s data collection unit,  NMEA 0183 inputs and a high-speed ethernet connection have been included in the system along with custom work to add functions such as alarm relays.

“Having worked with Actisense successfully on previous projects, we selected their PRO-MUX as the core of our data interfacing solution the Pathfinder DCU,” said Andy Murray, director of Navigational Solutions at Raymarine. 

“The work we have completed with Actisense ensures we have an extremely flexible interfacing solution at the core of our Pathfinder Radar ensuring that our system is easy to install for both retrofits and newbuild vessels.”

Pathfinder is designed to be easily retrofitted and is half the weight of comparable radars, Raymarine says. 

The radar is driven by a fan-less, six-foot, low-profile open array antenna that provides superior target separation and increased long-range resolution using CHIRP pulse compression and beam sharpening technology.
