Gift Presentation Marks LOF Century

Arnold Witte, president of the International Salvage Union presented Lord Peter Levene, chairman of Lloyd’ s with a gift from the salvage industry to mark the centenary of Lloyd’ s Form, the world’ s most frequently used form of marine salvage agreement.

The presentation was made on 31 March 31 at Lloyd’s of London. The gift is a ship’s wheel clock-barometer of around 1890. It carries an inscription recording the centenary of Lloyd’s Form, introduced in 1908.The ship’s wheel clock-barometer has double gilt brass and silvered twelve spoked ship’s wheels, set on a revolving capstan, with a finely engraved compass with jewelled bearing mounted on the top.
