A specialist dredger which has been designed and built by the UK’s Goodchild Marine in collaboration with Italy''s Italdraghe, for Yachthavens Ltd, is nearing completion.

The design of the specialist dredger has been based on Goodchild's Rufford II dredger and developed by the designer of the Rufford II, Alan Goodchild.

The commissioned dredger, which will be named MarinaMaster 8000, is being built by Italdraghe to a versatile design which allows for flexible manouverability. Its rear rudder propeller and front thruster makes it suitable for precision dredging projects in tight spaces in marinas and waterways where disruption needs to be kept to a minimum.

The MarinaMaster 8000, which measures 13.70m in length and can dredge down to 8m, is self propelled, allowing it to navigate independently on the water between dredging sites. With no need for anchors or mooring wires, it can also operate inside marina finger berths without the need for the fingers to be removed.

The low noise, one-man operated dredger has also been equipped with a dredging ladder which allows the dredging head to reach under marina pontoons and walkways for thorough cleaning.

The dredger is expected to be delivered to the UK in the next few weeks.

Meanwhile, Goodchild Marine has also received a contract from Titan Surveys, a member of the Gardline group, to deliver a set of 12m catamaran mouldings to build a survey vessel as well as from Broads Authority to build its latest launch based on Goodchild’s Aquabell Trojan 33.
