IADC adds to Facts About series

The series of concise, easy to read leaflets provide an effective overview of essential facts about specific dredging and maritime construction subjects. Each leaflet provides a kind of ‘management summary’ for stakeholders who need a quick understanding of a particular issue.

These leaflets are part of IADC’s ongoing effort to support clients, consultants and others in understanding the fundamental principles of dredging and maritime construction as the organisation believes that providing effective information to all involved parties is an essential element in achieving a successful dredging project.

Backhoe dredgers have been around for a long time but, with new technology taking them far ahead of their predecessors, the IADC has chosen to update information about this genre of workhorse, suitable for unconsolidated, heterogeneous soils, blasted rock and soil thought to contain fractured rocks, boulders or rubble. The power of these excavators has increased and hi-tech automation such as electronic positioning and control of the bucket location systems has greatly improved their efficiency and accuracy.
