IMCA survey sensor guidelines
Guidelines for management of peripheral survey sensors and their requirements for periodic calibration and verification have been published by the Offshore Survey Division of the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA).
The 24 page publication provides detailed guidance towards more standardised approaches to the timing of checks, verifications and calibrations which, it adds, lead to more consistent maintenance practices and potentially better management of survey resources and applications.
Contents include a 12 page section on sensors preceded by sections dealing with testing as a function of time, condition or risk; maintenance and testing strategies; operational environments; record keeping; and risk management.
The publication can be downloaded free of charge for members and non-members alike from the IMCA website at www.imca-com-int.com. Printed copies are also available at £10 each for members and £20 for non-members plus a 20% delivery charge for subscribers outside Europe.
