Advanced SAR vessel for Norway

Kongsberg Maritime will supply waterjet propulsion and control systems for a search and rescue vessel in Norway’s Sea Rescue Society (Redningsselskapet).

The SAR vessel, which is being built with a project name of Smart Saver, will use a new hull design that makes maximum benefit of the twin Kamewa Steel-series waterjets, managed through a JCS-E control system.

The mixed flow waterjets, says Kongsberg, provide the best pump efficiency on the market over the whole speed range, ’matching the increased demand of vessels even below 30 knots’.

The control system has been specifically designed for operating fast craft main powertrain equipment, providing performance optimisation in all circumstances in mission-critical operations. It has intuitive helm station joystick control and built-in optional functions, such as auto positioning, anchor point, interceptor steering, trim assist and park mode.
