ECMA winners revealed and presented

Winners for the European Commercial Marine Awards were announced on Tuesday evening in a ceremony which hasn’t been held since 2019.

For Lifetime Achievement, Mike Ring, Head of Innovation at Ring Powercraft, scooped the honours. Ring is a British innovator in high-performance sports boats and RIBs, starting his company in 1968.

The Maritime Professional of the Year, sponsored by North Star Shipping, was presented by SOV Operations Director Steve Myers – and the winner was Chartwell Marine Managing Director Andy Page, for showing ’a dedication and aptitude to take the business to the next level in a way that is highly professional and a credit to the industry’.

New for 2022 was the Green Technology Award, which HST Marine won for the best new item of equipment, service or consumable to assist businesses in this endeavour.  

The Young Person’s Development Award, which offers recognition to young people 16-25 currently studying to work or begin a career in the maritime industry, was awarded to Ashlee Barrell.  

In Maritime Sustainability, Artemis Technologies scooped their third prize of the evening, in this case showing the judges that the company demonstrated ’outstanding focus in its environment and sustainability efforts’.

For Marine Civils, the prize went to Mackley’s for despite challenges, completing an outstanding project.
