General Oceans acquires RS Aqua

General Oceans has acquired the underwater monitoring technology company RS Aqua, strengthening its combined position in the subsea technology and underwater monitoring sectors.

This acquisition marks another milestone for General Oceans, which has rapidly expanded its portfolio of subsea innovators, including Tritech International Ltd in 2022 and Klein Marine Systems in 2023. 

“RS Aqua are an important acquisition for General Oceans and we couldn’t be happier they are joining the group,” said Atle Lohrmann, president of General Oceans.

“Their expertise in underwater monitoring solutions will enhance our capabilities, and the collaboration opportunities within the group will drive significant advancements in the subsea technology market.”

Subsea market

RS Aqua, based in Portsmouth, UK, is a leader in supplying cutting-edge sensors and systems for ocean technology and underwater monitoring. With over 40 years of experience, they hold a strong position in the UK subsea market.

He said that RS Aqua will continue to operate independently, reflecting the shared commitment to innovation and sustainable development in subsea exploration. But the new strategic partnership underscores the companies’ dedication to empowering ocean science and driving future advancements in underwater technology.

The Gneral Oceans Group reported a 28% revenue growth in 2023, reaching GB£62 million. With this latest addition, the company now comprises six operating companies and employs over 300 people globally.
