Maritime CleanTech CEO moves on

Økland will join Hy2gen Norway AS, which is owned by German firm Hy2Gen AG, a big investor in green hydrogen production. 

Hy2Gen AG was founded in October 2017, describing itself as ‘the first international group to produce green H2 at industrial scale’. Since then it has added subsidiaries in North America, France and Norway.

Økland has been at the forefront of Maritime CleanTech since it started life in 2011.

”Hege Økland has done a formidable job of initiating a green paradigm shift in the maritime industry. This has contributed to making Norway a frontrunner in developing new emission-cutting technologies for the maritime industry,” said chair of the board at Maritime CleanTech, Bjørn Sundland. 

”It will be sentimental handing over my key card in the autumn,” said Økland. ”But I also feel this is the right time to move on. To decarbonise shipping we need to increase the volumes of green fuels in use. Establishing new green value chains requires good arenas for collaboration.”

The recruitment process to replace Økland has begun, with several other new positions also opening up, Maritime CleanTech says.
