A MoU has been signed for offshore wind and alternative fuel personnel training.
ClassNK has signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Maersk Training A/S to provide offshore windfarm operator and alternative fuel ship crew training.
With the signing of the MOU, the two parties will cooperate proactively towards enabling high-quality training which satisfies the international standards to be provided and thus create a competent local labour force to be supplied to the growing offshore wind industry in Japan, as well across the Asia-Pacific.
Safety guidelines
Going forward, ClassNK will work with Maersk Training to develop a set of guidelines including the safety of boat transfer, which is one of the most frequent HSE risks across the offshore wind sector.
Furthermore, joint research will be carried out on seafarer training for ammonia-fueled vessels.
ClassNK said it will continue to expand its service to support increased skills for offshore windfarms and alternative fuel vessels to contribute to the realisation of a safer and decarbonised marine industry.
Maersk Training specialises in delivering training for the oil and gas, renewables and maritime industries, helping improve safety and operational performance for their clients.
