RINA signs MOU to promote battery-hybrid propulsion

Global ship classification body RINA (Registro Italiano Navale) has pledged to work with the South Korean group Hanwha on greater adoption of advanced battery-hybrid propulsion systems in the maritime sector.

Hanwha brings hardware expertise from three companies to the table – Hanwha Power, Hanwha Aerospace and Hanwha Engine – which includes propulsion, energy storage and systems integration knowhow. RINA has the regulatory and certification background.
