The twelve Hydromaster Series 5 Deck Mounted Rudder Propeller Units were prepared in the Hydromaster works in Rotterdam for transport to Three Angle Marine Limited, one of the most prominent and fastest growing shipbuilders in Bangladesh.

The thrusters will be powered by Scania DI16 diesel engines and propel six 46m Improved Utility-Type Ferries for the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation. Rated at 515kW each, the thrusters will give each ferry a service speed well in excess of 9 knots.

Hydromaster’s deck-mounted propulsion units are self-contained outboard propulsion units with a prime mover that can either be a diesel engine, electric motor or hydraulic pump/motor combination.

The vertical stem can be tilted for cleaning and maintenance with its length tailored to different vessels’ designs. The units are depth adjustable to cater for shallow waters, which is especially of relevance in Bangladesh.

Acoustic soundproof canopies are available as an option, as are waterproof canopies for coastal applications.
