Italian style hits Southampton
Italian commercial and patrol craft builder Effebi, attended Seawork 2014 International (10/12 June) for the first time. Effebi presented as world premières its latest models from the patrol and rescue craft, workboat, fire-fighting boat, passenger ferry and offshore wind farm support vessel categories.
“We strongly believe in our presence at this event”, said Katia Balducci, managing director of Effebi spa. “Today Seawork International is one of the most prestigious maritime trade fairs in the world and an important showcase for our company.”
Headquartered in Tuscany, Italy, Effebi has been run by the Balducci family since 1983. The company specialises in 15-50 metre boats, with the Effebi brand representing the commercial and patrol craft sector and the renowned Mangusta and Mangusta Oceano brand producing luxury maxi open yachts and displacement yachts.
“We want to retain the ethics of a family business, and that means pursuing step-by-step growth. Everything is done in-house, from design to composite lamination and fitting of electrical plant. It is important that we remain lean, organic and flexible, so we can satisfy the individual requirements of different clients.” said Katia Balducci.
Ursula Brzoska, Effebi’s communication manager added, “This was our first time exhibiting at the show and its been very busy for us. We have met some important contacts for workboat and military vessels from many different countries – let’s see what happens after the show. We were very impressed with the number of international visitors.”
Effebi works out of a number of different premises in the Massarosa, Massa and Carrara-Avenza area, covering a total of around 72.500 square metres (indoor and outdoor). The company prefers to treat each specific vessel as a new project in itself rather than taking a factory line approach and producing standardised vessel types.
