Kongsberg Norcontrol signs Norwegian Coastal Administration framework agreement
Kongsberg Norcontrol Ltd has signed a framework agreement worth up to NOK250m with the Norwegian Coastal Administration for delivery, operations and maintenance of radars to the maritime traffic service.
The UK-located company, due to exhibit at Seawork, said the agreement has a duration of up to eleven years. Experts in maritime surveillance solutions to improve safety, efficiency and security of maritime transportation and its infrastructure, Kongsberg Norcontrol has also recently undertaken VTS work at ports.
Ian Mclaren at Bristol-based Kongsberg Norcontrol said in the last six months the company has “completed three major upgrades to the VTS’ at Forth Ports at Grangemouth, Teesport and Humber.” He added the company expected to work with more ports in the future.
Kongsberg Norcontrol provides the UK Maritime & Coastguard Agency with its surveillance system. The agency has its head office in Southampton and its national maritime operations centre in Fareham.
2018 will be the first year Kongsberg Norcontrol has exhibited at Seawork and Mr Mclaren commented: “We want to rub shoulders with potential customers.”
