Fugro Pelagos Inc of San Diego, a subsidiary of the Dutch group operating in 60 countries, has been awarded a multi-purpose survey contract by the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) in support of its Architect & Engineering Survey and Mapping Support Services Mobile District team.

The federal government agency is responsible for providing engineering services to US customers in addition to those in more than 130 countries worldwide.

Apart from vessel-based hydrographic surveying under the five-year contract, Fugro will also provide a variety of airborne sensors and systems, including topographic and bathymetric LIDAR as well as digital cameras and imagers together with integrated data collection and processing in support of the USACE’s national coastal mapping program. Other services include topographic and boundary surveying, GNSS positioning, terrestrial and mobile LIDAR scanning and geographic information system (GIS) development and production.

Fugro is one of eight companies currently also providing hydrographic support services to the US governmental National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) under a similar five-year arrangement.
