Major dyke strengthening completed after flood defence works

A major flood protection scheme in the Dutch province of Zeeland has been completed a year ahead of schedule, following extensive reinforcement work on a 5.2km stretch of dyke.

The works were done by Van Oord between the Hansweert lock complex and the Kapellebank tidal flat to upgrade defences to meet updated Dutch flood safety standards to withstand more severe storm conditions.
