DP World finalises legal requirements to buy Imperial
DP World Logistics has met all necessary conditions to enable it to buy 100% of Imperial Logistics, the firm announced today.
The transaction will be finalised on March 14.
The move is intended to deepen DP World’s foothold in Africa, it says, where the company already has several ports. It also has a European network of inland terminals that connect with deep sea ports in Europe.
South Africa-based Imperial Logistics complements DP’s intentions with its market access and logistics solutions in Africa, DP World group chairman and CEO Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem said, where it is predicting trade to grow at more than twice GDP, driven by population growth, accelerated urbanisation and a rising middle class.
The deal will allow the company to offer integrated end-to-end solutions along key trade lanes into and out of Africa, said Imperial Group CEO Mohammed Akoojee, driving better supply chain efficiency and therefore enhancing value for all stakeholders.
The firms confirmed that all regulatory approvals had been fulfilled in preparation for the formal handover on March 14.
