MIT deal
The UKs Marine & Industrial Transmissions Ltd (MIT) signed an agreement at this year’s Seawork International which will see it become UK & Ireland distributor for Heimdal Propulsion Norway AS.
MIT is celebrating 40 years in business this year and it said that the addition of Heimdal Propulsion will help ensure it meets all client requirements within the sectors it operates in.
Jeremy Hill, MIT chairman, said: “We are looking forward to working with Heimdal as it fits our supplier profile. In addition to its standard products, MIT is developing some new products with Heimdal to meet both market and environmental requirements.”
The agreement was signed at Seawork 2014 and MIT technical staff will soon be given product training to familiarise themselves with Heimdal products.
MIT is a supplier of new units, spares and service of marine gears, power-shift transmissions, power take offs and associated products for drive line and propulsion systems. It works with many well-known suppliers such as Twin Disc, Nico, Transfluid, CMC Marine, Rubber Design, Rolla, Technodrive, BCS and The Seaworker.
Heimdal meanwhile is a well-established Norwegian company, founded in 1916, which produces transmissions and controllable pitch propellers for small to medium sized vessels with engine power of 3000 kW and a propeller diameter of up to 3.8m. Its clients include fishing vessels, bulkers, tankers, tugs, workboats, ferries and small offshore vessels.
