New Garmin AIS 800 transceiver and VHF 315i marine radio at Seawork
Garmin has launched the AIS 800 transceiver with Class B/SO and VHF 315i marine radio with Class D Digital Selective Calling (DSC).
The AIS 800 transceiver has 5 watts of transmit power with Class B/SO and provides faster position reporting than previous Garmin models. It receives AIS target data while transmitting a vessel’s information to other AIS receivers in the area and includes built-in GPS with a connector for optional external antenna.
Packed into an easy-to-install black box unit, the AIS 800 has “a cost-saving internal VHF antenna splitter that allows VHF and AIS to share a single antenna,” explained Garmin. Plus, it features NMEA 2000 connectivity for easy integration with compatible chartplotters and multifunction displays.
VHF 315i
The 25-watt VHF 315i marine radio with Class D DSC is a modular communication solution that is easy to use and also has NMEA 2000 connectivity. It features optional GPS and also includes the GHS 11i handset and new active speaker to use as an intercom between up to three stations.
VHF 315i is equipped with NMEA 2000 connectivity for easy integration with compatible chartplotters, multifunction displays and convenient software updates. Simplified handset connectors and an uncomplicated, easy-to-use interface allow users to quickly set up and communicate.
