New Seafloor Systems sounder
California based Seafloor Systems Inc has developed an inland water integrated sounder for measuring and logging depths, HydroLite.
Last year the company announced what it claimed to be the world’s first complete shallow water multibeam system costing less than $75,000
Originally designed for US Army tactical dive teams, the portable wireless system can be adapted to any type of vessel and is particularly suited for surveys of rivers, lakes and comparable waters. Accuracies are said to be better than those obtainable with standard systems. Options include a ruggedised shipping case, PC data acquisition, a digital bar check and a tide gauge.
Systems are available in Europe from, among others, Ohmex and Seatronics in the UK, Geomesure of France, Nautilus Oceanica in Spain, Hydrograf (Gdynia) in Poland, and Masterconnect of Portugal.
