Henriksen Seawork debut
Single-point lifting hook specialist Henriksen hooks will be attending Seawork at Southampton, UK, for the first time as part of its continuing expansion into new markets.
H Henriksen already claims to be the best known name to be found on high quality, off-load release hooks used for launching and recovering rescue craft, workboats and RIBs throughout the world.
Visitors to the H Henriksen (Stand A237) will have the opportunity to also see the company’s newest safety innovations which are being given their first UK public presentation at Seawork. The Liftview and Awarelight systems have been devised and manufactured to increase the safety of boat launching and recovery operations by providing more information for the crews involved.
The Liftview system has been devised to provide the coxswain of a boat that is about to be lifted with a clear graphical display of the weight to which it’s Henriksen Hook will be subjected. When boats ship water in rough seas or take-on additional personnel or equipment, the Liftview clearly shows whether the added weight moves it close to the hook’s maximum load limit.
The risks of misunderstood signals between the boat and the davit winch operator, who may be some distance above the water, have also been addressed by H Henriksen which has introduced the Awarelight. This is a bright light fitted to the upper part of a boat so that it can be seen under all conditions by the winch operator. The light is connected to the hook and flashes or remains constant according to its status and provides a clear and unambiguous indication of whether the hook is closed and the boat is ready for lifting.
Both the Liftview and Awarelight systems are positive new innovations aimed at increasing maritime safety. They can be used in conjunction with any hooks in Henriksen’s extensive range, several of which will also be on display at Seawork.
