McMurdo awards

McMurdo was awarded ‘Best search and rescue product’ and ‘Best man overboard tracking system’ in the Maritime/Port Security/Underwater Vehicles and Communication Systems categories, awarded by the Government Security News – the official publication of the Homeland Security Industries Association.

“We’re honoured to be recognized for two highly coveted search and rescue technology awards,” said Mark Cianciolo, VP Americas for Orolia. “At Orolia, we’re focused on taking the ‘search’ out of search and rescue missions, with more than 42,000 lives saved so far.”

McMurdo has delivered a series of industry firsts, which has revolutionised the way search and rescue missions are conducted today. Back in 2001, McMurdo was the first to deliver individual emergency distress devices with its game-changing Personal Locator Beacon. A decade later, in 2011, McMurdo delivered the first Man Over Board (MOB) devices. Today, McMurdo MOBs provide extremely accurate location information and transmit automatically when a life jacket inflates. Proving testimony to the brand’s stellar safety credentials, last August, the US Coast Guard selected McMurdo to provide up to 16,000 PLBs to enhance its own crews’ safety.
