IADC hosts Dredging & Reclamation Seminar
The Netherlands based International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC) is organising the International Seminar on Dredging and Reclamation, to be held 26–30 June 2017 at UNESCO –IHE in Delft.
It is the latest in a series of dredging seminars which began in 1993 and reflects the IADC’s commitment to education, encouraging young people to enter the field and to improve knowledge about dredging worldwide.
The five day course strives to provide an understanding through lectures by experts in the field and in workshops conducted partly on-site in order to give students a ‘hands-on’ experience. Day One addresses The Need for Dredging, with an overview of the market, the development of new ports and the maintenance of existing ones, as well as project phasing. Day Two covers the different types of dredgers and boundary conditions for their use. This day also includes a site visit to a dredging project. Day Three covers the latest dredging and reclamation techniques, including environmental measures. Day Four looks at site and soil investigations, cost pricing and survey while Day Five provides a thorough overview of contracts. Each participant with full attendance is awarded a Certificate of Achievement.
The seminar costs €3,100, which includes VAT, all tuition, seminar proceedings, workshops and a special participants’ dinner. Travel costs and accommodation are not included but assistance with finding hotels is provided.
