New CEDA Information Paper
The latest information paper from the Netherlands based Central Dredging Association (CEDA) is titled: Assessing and Evaluating Environmental Turbidity Limits for Dredging.
A survey of companies and organisations working in dredging, conducted by the CEDA Environment Commission (CEC), indicated that respondents understood and supported the need for environmental turbidity limits but did not necessarily think that the majority of the limits were scientifically or environmentally based. The CEC then asked the question: Is there a need for guidelines on how to set realistic and effective environmental turbidity limits for dredging? A resounding answer of Yes led the CEC to set up a working group which has produced this paper, which can be downloaded from the CEDA website: www.dredging.org.
CEDA has also announced that its official magazine since 1978, Dredging and Port Construction (DPC), ceased publication with its May 2020 issue. Publisher IHS Markit cited an absence of new subscriptions and declining advertising revenue as reasons for closing the 52 year old title.
