DeepOcean wins contracts for offshore RWE project
Norwegian vessel owner DeepOcean has won a contract from RWE to provide trenching, transport and cable installation services for the Nordseecluster A offshore wind farm.
DeepOcean, which has a fleet of 16 vessels, 14 Remotely Operated Vessels (ROVs) and a range of seabed and other tools, will install a total of 185km of 66kV aluminium and copper cables to connect the 44 offshore wind turbines that make up Nordseecluster A.
It will have a power generation capacity of 900MW and is expected to begin commercially operating in early 2029. Nordseecluster B will be built in a second phase.
DeepOcean also has the tools necessary to carry out seabed surveys and monitoring, which will start next year, with the main works beginning at the beginning of 2026.
Project management will be based out of the Scottish port of Aberdeen and will be supported across the company’s UK and Norwegian offices.
