Offshore wind demand sees davit sales soar

Norwegian supplier, Vestdavit, has notched up a new record for another consecutive year after its order intake surged by 76%.

The company says orders from the offshore wind sector now account for 30% of overall sales.

“We now have around 80% of all offshore wind vessel operators using our davits, based on our strong reputation for supplying highly robust boat-handling systems that are user-friendly and have low maintenance costs,” says Vestdavit’s sales and business development director Tarjei Isaksen.

He adds that the company has secured a much higher number of orders for prototype davit projects, which reflects the increasing demand for customised solutions.

Vestdavit is also increasing deliveries to the oil & gas industry that accounted for 15% of its orders last year, up significantly from 2022, with its davits mainly being installed on construction support vessels used to develop field projects, as well as cable-laying vessels.

The global naval sector remains the biggest market for Vestdavit, currently accounting for about 50% of sales. With this significant uptick in orders across all segments, Vestdavit has increased staff numbers at its Bergen head office by 25% and is also expanding the capacity of its production facility in Poland.
