The company was last at Seawork two years ago and was back this year to spread the word about the benefits of automation and its “complete support solution” for finance, product, installation and support.

“At iconsys, we’re proud to be supporting next-generation renewable technologies and playing a role in shaping the future of sustainable energy, with control, reliability and precision. Seawork is a great platform to do that,” said Simon Grant, business development manager, iconsys.

Tidal power

iconsys has recently been awarded a key contract to deliver automation and electrical systems for a major UK tidal energy development, a ground-breaking 20 MW array that will be deployed off the coast of Wales.

The project involves the development of a highly innovative tidal energy device that will harness predictable, renewable energy from strong tidal flows, providing a consistent and scalable source of low-carbon electricity to the grid.

iconsys will provide a core element of the technology required to bring this system to life – delivering engineering expertise to the project to help ensure performance, safety and long-term reliability.

“This win further strengthens our growing presence in the marine, ports and offshore renewables sectors and reflects our strategic focus on enabling the energy transition through advanced industrial automation and control,” said Jordan Tassell, head of marine & ports, iconsys.

With installation targeted for 2026, this prototype forms a crucial part of a long-term vision for tidal power.

The vision is that tidal energy can contribute meaningfully to the UK’s net zero goals while enabling economic growth through industrial innovation and clean energy job creation.
