ABB launches high-power engine for smaller vessels

The AMXE Marine Motor has been engineered to endure saltwater exposure and strong currents typical of harsh ocean conditions and reflects ABB’s experience in mining and rail sectors bringing durability and performance to maritime operations, ABB says.

With the highest power density in ABB’s portfolio, the AMXE delivers more power with less weight and space, critical for vessels with tight dimensional constraints. Its water-cooled, quiet design eliminates the need for external ventilation, reducing onboard noise and vibration, the company says.

Custom built for a wide range of vessel types, the motor features a compact form and smart terminal box, enabling flexible, easy installation in both engine rooms and open-deck settings. Its robust insulation ensures high reliability even under heavy shock, vibration, and corrosive conditions. ABB’s global service network ensures lifetime support for fast, responsive maintenance and assistance.
