Advanced protection for heavy-duty marine diesel engines
Castrol has launched Rivermax 15W-40 CK-4/E9, a next-generation marine lubricant designed for heavy-duty marine diesel engines, including those powering tugs and ferries.
Developed specifically for vessels navigating inland waterways, this synthetic engine oil has been aligned to meet the latest ACEA and API specifications.
“We’re committed to delivering high-performance lubrication solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers,” said Henning Von Rheden, brand & communication director, Europe at Castrol.
“The launch of this new Rivermax product brings the latest industry specifications to our marine customers, ensuring Castrol’s commitment to the latest technology and specification.”
Evolutionary process
Rivermax 15W-40 CK-4/E9 represents an evolution from the former CRB Rivermax line, now rebranded to strengthen Castrol’s focus on innovation in marine propulsion systems.
Engineered for a wide range of diesel engines, including those in commercial fishing boats, cargo ships and tugs, Castrol said the new engine oil offers compatibility with advanced emission systems like EGR, DPF, DOC and SCR.
The new marine lubricant features enhanced detergents and antioxidants to help prevent deposit formation and oil thickening, key challenges in demanding marine environments.
With its CK-4 base, Rivermax 15W-40 CK-4/E9 exceeds older API categories including CJ-4 and CI-4 PLUS, offering robust protection and improved engine efficiency.
Castrol Rivermax 15W-40 CK-4/E9 is available now in a variety of pack sizes, including 20L small packs, 208L drums and bulk and mini bulks.
