Cox Marine delivers almost 100 outboards to military fleet

The order was its largest single customer order to date, it says, and marks ’a significant milestone in the company’s growth and presence in the global military market’.

While not naming which country’s fleet has been supplied with the outboards, Cox said its distributor, De Wolf Maritime Safety, handled the order.

“A total of 92 Cox Marine 300 V8 diesel outboards are currently being installed in twin configurations across a combination of HDPE and aluminium vessels destined for active use by an undisclosed European military customer,” the company said. “This project highlights the versatility of Cox Marine’s outboards and its capacity to deliver high-volume solutions to demanding operational environments.”

Cox Marine, whose distributor, E P Barrus, is a Seawork exhibitor, presented at the Get Set Workboat 2050 conference in 2023 on usable hydrogen-based marine propulsion systems.

The company is based at Shoreham Airport in the south of the UK. In March, the company replaced its CEO two weeks after announcing a shift in business strategy to focus more on output than R&D – something that appears to have paid off, with the supply of so many outboards.

Former CEO Gavin Wesson became non-executive chairman and was replaced by George Bramley, who remains as chief financial officer.
