Approved by ABS and recognised by P&I clubs, the versatile tool ensures pinpoint accuracy when testing watertight doors (WTDs) and other deck equipment, reducing both time and costs for operators.

“Watertight doors are essential to ship safety and reliable testing is crucial,” said a Cygnus spokesperson.

“Our ultrasonic system provides an eco-friendly, modern alternative to traditional chalk and hose tests, offering more accurate results while minimising onboard disruption.”

Quick testing

Cygnus said its system performs quick, effective weather tightness tests on hatch covers and doors, crucial for preventing water ingress in dry cargo vessels.

Because it’s operated by a single person, the Cygnus Hatch Sure optimises deck inspections, cutting down on labour and environmental impact.

Cygnus Hatch Sure system simplifies compliance with safety standards like SOLAS Reg II-1/11.1.

Its ability to adjust power output across six pre-set levels allows testing across different types of deck equipment and compartments, including bulkhead doors, offshore platforms and transportation vehicles.

Lightweight and portable, the 3.8 kg system comes in a convenient rucksack-style case, making it ideal for rapid, thorough deck inspections.
