Multinational Fugro
Fugro’s multinational operations continue apace with award of a combined geophysical and geotechnical contract by Hess Exploration for seabed mapping in North West Australia involving use of a Hugin 1000 AUV.
Work includes seabed and shallow geological investigations, including in areas of difficult terrain.
Elsewhere, the Dutch company has been tasked by the Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS) to conduct airborne lidar bathymetry (ALB) surveys in Eastern and Central Canada. The ALB systems will be used to acquire survey data and seabed imagery in shallow coastal waters where acquisition of similar information by traditional vessel-based acoustic methods is said to be inefficient, expensive and unsafe. Areas concerned comprise multiple sites along the coasts of Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Noval Scotia and Central Canada.
