New CARIS development
CARIS, the leading Canadian developer of geospatial software with customers in 85 countries and offices in the Netherlands, UK and elsewhere, has announced a widely-anticipated near real-time processing and mapping application, CARIS Onboard.
Claimed to be the next stage in the ever-evolving hydrographic data processing landscape, its development will revolutionise the way in which bathymetry and imagery data is processed, Dr Salem Masry, the company’s President and CEO says.
The new suite automatically converts data as it becomes available and applies a range of pre-determined corrections so that information can then be used to generate a terrain model or mosaic. It thus enables early visualisation of seafloor characteristics, leading to a greater emphasis on quality control while ensuring improved decision-making and greater efficiencies. Designed to operate with survey launches, autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) and unmanned surface craft, it permits multiple datasets to be processed quickly and consistently at higher resolutions. With ever-expanding volumes of data being collected at high resolutions, CARIS adds that the new development also fits seamlessly with its Ping-to-Chart software suite and so reduces product creation timelines.
