New iXBlue developments
iXBlue has launched Rovins Nano, a new compact inertial navigation system which the French company says will revolutionise ROV navigation. Based on the company’s widely-adopted fibre optic technology, it is designed for ROV pilots carrying out maintenance and construction operations and is claimed to provide unrivalled stability and accuracy of inertial positions, outputting true north, roll, pitch and rotation rates.
A lightweight unit is able to directly transmit an ROV’s position with extreme accuracy due to an integrated algorithm capable of collecting acoustic data, regardless of the depth at which it is located. Its open architecture design also allows ready inclusion of a wide range of industry-standard sensors.
Other new company developments announced at Oceanology International include an upgraded fifth-generation version of its Octans series of all-in-one gyrocompass and motion sensor systems. Meeting IMO and other certifications, latest models provide extremely accurate real-time output for roll, pitch, heading and heave as well as acceleration and rate of turns in so-called challenging GNSS-denied environments. Systems are available with a five-year warranty.
