New Valeport developments
Swift SVP, a new compact sound velocity profiler for shallow water operations, was among a clutch of new developments announced at Ocean Business by hydrographic and oceanographic instrumentation specialists, Valeport of Totnes, UK.
It features high accuracy profiling, pressure and temperature plus integral GPS to geo-located profiles. Data can be easily and rapidly downloaded, reviewed and translated to common SVP formats wirelessly via Bluetooth Smart using a free Swift App on IOS devices.
Designed for coastal, harbour and inland hydrographic use and with instant sharing of data via FTP, email and cloud services, the portable system has a quoted battery life of up to a week which can be readily charged via USB. Meanwhile, among other new company developments scheduled for release over coming months are a series of ultraSV and ultraP sound velocity and pressure sensors suitable for system integration and OEM applications; housed in rugged titanium casings, they are depth-rated to 600m as standard. Also planned for availability this summer is a new range of Hyperion Fluorometer optical sensors together with a miniCTD fast profiler designed to operate autonomously.
