CRP Subsea wins contract for Germany’s largest offshore wind farm
Subsea cable protection and polymer designer CRP Subsea has announced it will supply cable protection for Germany’s largest offshore wind farm.
It says it has won a contract with marine contractor Jan De Nul to protect the cables in and out of Vattenfall’s Nordlicht I wind farm.
A subsidiary of Applied Industrial Solutions (AIS), CRP Subsea’s cable protection systems will be installed at the ends of the inter-array cables in the German North Sea where they connect to offshore converter platforms and wind turbine generators.
The ‘NjordGuard’ systems will be engineered to meet the specific requirements of monopile and J-tube interfaces, CRP Subsea says, and will protect cables from over-bending, abrasion and fatigue, ensuring reliability during installation and throughout their operational life.

The NjordGuard systems will be produced at CRP Subsea’s facility in northwest England, which has a semi-automated production line what should complete production by December 2026.
The Nordlicht I offshore wind farm will have an installed capacity of 980MW and is scheduled to be operational in 2028. It is set to become Germany’s largest offshore wind project.
NjordGuard is designed for quick assembly on installation vessels and uses API 17L certified Uraduct material.
