Singapore-based Eastern Pacific Shipping and Ventures (EPS Ventures) and Norway’s state-owned Nysnø Climate Investments have jointly invested the money, which has given them shares and seats on the board of directors.

“Expanding charging infrastructure further enables the use of hybrid and fully electric vessels for cargo and passenger transport, with minimal or zero greenhouse gas emissions,” says Zinus.

As the owner of 250 vessels, EPS certainly has an interest in developing shorepower services. Nysnø invests in a range of renewable energy and digital technologies.

“Investing in Zinus aligns with our mission to support innovative solutions that drive sustainability in the maritime industry,” said Gary Ong, Investment Manager at EPS Ventures. “Shorepower solutions are critical to reducing the carbon footprint of global shipping, and Zinus has proven itself as a leader in this space.

Shipping, Zinus believes, emits 3% of global human-caused CO2, which means it contributes 0.000036% of the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere (total CO2 in atmosphere = 0.04%; of that, human activity contributes 3% (0.0012%).

“EPS Ventures’ and Nysnø’s entry into Zinus is a resounding endorsement of our technology and the vital role it plays in decarbonising global shipping,” said Endre Eidsvik. “Their investment is both a strong industrial and governmental cheer for our mission: supplying the most innovative, efficient, aesthetic and user-friendly solutions for an electrified world.”
