Pontoon build for Brownsea Island

Manor’s first order from Southampton based pontoon specialist Intermarine Ltd, was to manufacture a 13-metre steel tubular pontoon to improve visitor access to the island.

“We’re extremely pleased to have provided fabrication services to Intermarine Ltd for their Brownsea Island pontoon project, said Leif Cooper, managing director at Manor Marine.

”We have built many steel pontoons over the years but this was our first with Intermarine Ltd and it has been great to be assisting with a Dorset based project.”

Better access

Construction of the pontoon commenced in April 2022 and took a month. Upon completion the pontoon was installed at Brownsea Island for the John Lewis Partnership where it will serve as access for visitors travelling to Brownsea Castle.

It’s a been a busy year for the company.

Back in September, Manor Marine launched the Mainprize Offshore Ltd vessel MO8, ahead of its final build works.

With lifting assistance from Ainscough Crane Hire, the MO8 was successfully launched into the water, following several months in build onsite in Portland, Dorset.

The MO8 will now undergo internal fit out and final works, before sea trials and delivery to Mainprize Offshore later this year.
