Williams strengthens Aberdeen offshore links

The move unites two respected names in the marine supply chain, combining Williams Shipping’s expertise with GIF’s established operations in the UK’s offshore energy sector. Day-to-day activities will continue under the GIF Transport and Logistics name, with the existing team ensuring continuity for customers.

“Our transport team have already built up a solid working relationship with GIF,” said Jonathan Williams, managing director of Williams Shipping.

“By combining the strengths of both companies, we’re creating a stronger foundation for future growth while ensuring customers continue to receive the high standards they expect.”

Logistics hub

The acquisition also includes a significant parcel of land in Dyce, which will become a critical logistics hub for Williams Shipping. The site will house GIF’s headquarters, enhance the company’s marine lubricants distribution, and expand Willbox container services in northeast Scotland.

Brian Pirie, Director of GIF Transport and Logistics, called the partnership “a significant opportunity to maintain exceptional service while securing long-term growth and sustainability.”

Williams highlighted Aberdeen’s role as a key centre for marine logistics and offshore energy, noting that the region’s skills and infrastructure make it vital to the UK’s marine supply chain.

The Dyce site is expected to be operational later this year, with phased development already underway.

Williams Shipping will once again be back showcasing its expanded capabilities at Seawork 2026 (9 to 11 June), the company has been exhibiting at the exhibition for over 15 years.
