BMT Nigel Gee hits 10 day hat-trick

Long-time Seawork exhibitor, the UKs BMT Nigel Gee Ltd, a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, has launched three new windfarm support vessels built to its own design over a period of ten days from three different shipyards.

Setting a new benchmark in the offshore wind market

Ed Dudson, technical director, BMT Nigel Gee, said: “We are confident that these vessels will set a new benchmark for quality and capability in the offshore wind market.”

The vessels range from a 19.4m propeller-driven, conventional catamaran design to a 26m Extreme Semi-Swath (XSS), fitted with active motion damping systems consisting of T-Foils and interceptors.

The concept and design were unveiled at Seawork 2011 and immediately captured the attention of leading yards and WSV operators. Interest in the XSS was also a notable feature of discussions at Seawork in 2012.

Recently, the company announced it’s expanding its offices in Southampton, UK, to meet a large increase in design work. The naval architect specialist delivers design and engineering services to specialised vessels in the commercial, yacht, defence and renewable energy markets – the latter it attributes towards its need for expansion.

BMT Nigel Gee will be exhibiting at Seawork 2013 on stand A303.
