Cheetah successes at Seawork

Visitors to Seawork International were able to view two types of UK boatbuilder Cheetah Marine’s larger series of catamarans on the pontoons this year.

The Cheetah 9m and 10m series will both be at Seawork this year

Both vessels demonstrate the boatbuilder’s approach to specialised one-off builds, with a large work area available on a safe and stable work platform, synonymous with Cheetah designs.

Following a string of newbuilds this year, Cheetah’s popular 10m series available from 9 to 11m with a 3.7m beam has been well received in both the workboat and recreational markets.

The first of the new series, Bleu Camargue, also features alternate style side access to the helm from the side decks complimenting the ease of movement between outside space and helm.

Sean Strevens, Cheetah designer, said: “With a very comfortable ride and offshore capabilities this new version for the 10m series will make a fast and economical patrol boat.”

Bleu Camargue has arrived in the south of France in time for the start of the French tuna fishing season where the vessel will operate as a charter fishing vessel in the Mediterranean and the Little Rhone.

Expanding accommodation options for the 10m series is a new walkaround style wheelhouse featuring a surrounding deck level walkway to allow complete freedom of movement around the vessel.

With a LOA 11.2m x 3.7m, the Cheetah 10m series has been designed and built for commercial fishing and suits any applications where maximum deck space is a priority. The catamaran features a short 1.2m, full width style wheelhouse, maximizing outside deck space to over 24m2.

A fully containerised model of the 10m series is currently in production.

The 9m series meanwhile, features an LOA 9.95m x 3.6m. Its WMB 3250 multi-beam sonar is ideally suited to coastal surveys and environmental mapping and it has become acknowledged as one of the most cost effective systems on the market.

Cheetah Marine currently has a full order book with future builds secured for both the home market and abroad.
