ECDIS at Seawork
UK based training academy, ECDIS Ltd, used Seawork 2015 to grow members of its eMaritime Exchange to over 500.
eMaritime Exchange, which was actually launched at Seawork, is a new social media platform created specifically for the seafaring community and is available to download as an app.
Sam Hucklesby, ECDIS Ltd told Maritime Journal: “This year’s Seawork exhibition has been an absolute success helping ECDIS Ltd launch eMaritime Exchange and its new app as the social platform for the seafarer community. Being able to exhibit in the small business enterprise section has given the launch the exposure it needed.”
The reason behind the development of the app was told. Firstly it was created to keep members up to date with the different courses running each week and secondly, the app allows the academy’s instructors to interact with seafarers from all sectors within the industry, widening training accessibility.
Still in its infancy, eMaritime Exchange is being developed and improved every day but members can already take advantage of the many discussion boards, post/search jobs on the Crew Finder and upload and download tried and tested route passages on the Route Exchange.
Each member has an individual profile where they can list skills and receive endorsements from their peers. The first level of membership is free and members can climb the ranks the more they post and use the site.
ECDIS Ltd has a portfolio of courses ranging from deck to security and a growing client base of 147 global commercial shipping companies, governments and military clients.
